AI in a Taxi

We just returned from a wonderful vacation in Greece. Upon landed at the Athens airport (after a 10 hour flight), we took a Taxi from the airport to our hotel. Our Taxi driver only spoke Greek, we only speak English. Now comes the really cool part — as we entered the city of Athens proper, the driver spoke in Greek “to” a NLP translation app he had running in his Taxi, and then this NLP App could immediately translate what he was saying (in Greek) to us (in English). For example, as we passed some of the historical building and statues in the city of Athens, he could tell us what these were (in Greek) and the App would instantly let us know (in English). The app also kept us posted to the minute as to how far away from our hotel we were (in English), and also told us about additional information regarding the weather forecast and distance to some of the main historical locations from our Hotel (again, in English) This is a real world example of how AI enriched our lives.
